Swedish Massage
This is the most common
form of massage. Long, gliding strokes, kneading, and vibration friction and
percussion techniques on the more superficial layers of muscles.
Deep Tissue Massage
This technique is
used to release chronic patterns of muscular tension, applying direct and
deeper pressure to the muscle. It allows the therapist to work on specific
problem areas.
Sport Massage
It is a great
compliment to total conditioning programs because it takes care of the wear
and tear of the muscle tissue that naturally occurs with strenuous exercise.
Consist of a variety of techniques, aiming to facilitate the body
conditioning and performance and faster recovery after an exerting event.
Neuromuscular Therapy
(NMT)
It is a
corrective, soft tissue treatment for muscular dysfunction and chronic pain.
Its objective is to balance the nervous and muscular system and align the
body with specific stretches to increase range of motion.
Thai Massage
Thai Massage is a
unique form of bodywork dating back to ancient times. This traditional form
of massage is practiced with the client fully clothed. It does not require
oils and incorporates gentle rocking, deep stretching and rhythmic
compression to create a unique therapeutic experience.
Asian Bodywork Shiatsu
and Amna (Japanesse Massage) and Tuina (Chinese medical massage)
It is an ancient
approach to restoring and maintaining the health of the body, mind and
spirit. It is based on the oriental philosophy that "ki"
- also known as "chi" in Chinese - energy, the life force that flows within us, is the key to physical, emotional and
spiritual health. If the flow of energy becomes blocked, there is dis-ease, dis-harmony and
disease. When chi flows unobstructed through the energy meridians (pathways)
in our body, our energy is harmonized and the blockages that cause disease in
the body, mind or spirit are removed. We feel better physically and
emotionally and experience a renewed sense of well-being.
Lomi-Lomi (Hawaiian Massage)
Lomi-Lomi means break up into small pieces,
and one of the intentions of this technique is to find congested areas of the
body and disperse them through rhythmic movements. This is a wonderful
combination of therapeutic strokes that, together, create the magical touch
of the islands.
Polarity Therapy (Ayurvedic)
Seeks to
harmonize people with their environment and nature using our own energy,
love, positive thoughts, attitudes, and gentle manipulations.
What should you expect
from a massage?
I will ask you a few questions about your general health, specific injuries
and whether you are under medical care. Then, I'll direct you to the studio.
It should be clean, private and quiet. I will leave the room while you
undress. You should never be on the table without being covered except for
the part of your body that is being treated. Feedback from you will help me
to do a better job. You should feel comfortable at all times. When you are on
the table, you can begin your relaxation by closing your eyes and centering
on your breathing. People often fall asleep. This shows that the body has
reached a deeper point of relaxation. I hope that your massage is both
enjoyable and beneficial. I take great pride in my work and enjoy
facilitating health and relaxation.
I hope to see you in my
practice.
